農委會最快9月將啟動「野生動物監測計畫」，化被動為主動讓全國800位巡山員入山調查，初步規畫調查石虎、棕簑貓、水獺、黃喉貂、小黃鼠狼、黃鼠狼、台灣黑熊、白鼻心、鼬獾及麝香貓等10種較易感染狂犬病的食肉目野生動物，以白鼻心、鼬獾為主。

農委會防檢局副局長趙磐華指出，在評估投放口服疫苗給野生動物前，必須先掌握「敵人有多少」，下周一林務局將召集生態、野生動物專家討論實行方式，巡山員已陸續施打疫苗，並委託專家訓練，「對抗狂犬病，已經做好長期抗戰的準備。」
