日據時代台灣總督府壓制「台灣議會期成同盟會」，1923年12月16日以違反治安警察法為名，大規模逮捕台灣倡議設置議會的知識分子，稱為「治警事件」。

今年逢治警事件發生90年，北市文化局在「台灣新文化運動紀念館籌備處」 (原大同分局)舉辦紀念特展，展出當時多位反殖民運動領袖如蔣渭水、王敏川等人所留下的文史資料。
