因為新出爐經濟數據包括，美國7月消費者物價指數上升0.2%，上周初次申請失業金人數減少1.5萬人，只能算是勉強符合市場預期，沒有利多激勵，再加上紐約州8月製造業指數，下降至8.2，Wal-Mart與思科公布第2季財報，令人失望，為股市帶來壓力，引發投資人拋售恐慌，跌勢擴大逼近200點，擔心道瓊1萬5100點關卡，可能失守。
