搶救160歲老莿桐　樹醫師會診

【黃瑞娟／花蓮報導】光復鄉太巴塱部落1顆樹齡至少超過160歲的老莿桐樹，遭蟲蛀致樹幹腐朽嚴重，居民向花蓮縣政政府農業處求救。農業處為求慎重，請來素有「樹醫師」稱號的農委會林試所森林保護組傅春旭博士來幫莿桐「治病」。

傅春旭與花蓮縣農業處技士龔俊雄會診後，決定先用二氧化硫驅蟲「治標」再以「靠接」方式將年經健康的莿桐樹枝條扦插到老樹上，等於是做「器官移植」手術，讓老樹重獲新生。光復鄉北富村長萬中興說，這棵百年莿桐樹是部落精神象徵，希望他健康茁壯，繼續看護部落。
