是巧合或神算？並不重要，重要的是，老虎教頭李蘭 (JimLeyland)今天的靈機棒次變動，就在美聯冠軍賽第四戰發揮神效，關鍵時刻打擊發威，終場以7：3擊敗紅襪，在7戰4勝美聯冠軍賽扳成2勝2敗平手。

老虎昨天浪費了瓦蘭德 (Justin Verlander) 的8局失1分好投，以0：1輸掉比賽，球員氣氛難免沮喪，李蘭說：「每年到了季後賽，分數進帳總是吝嗇。」

前役一分未得，李蘭透露，「我昨天坐在沙發上看著紅雀比賽，手裡拿著紙和鉛筆，我告訴自己，該做些什麼了。」

這張紙最後規畫出新打線，杭特 (Torii Hunter) 拉到開路先鋒，主砲卡布雷拉 (Miguel Cabrera)調往第2棒，季後賽打擊陷入低潮的傑克森 (Austin Jackson)，則從第1棒退居第8棒。

神奇的是，這3個調動的棒次，今天各賺2分打點，在老虎全場7分進帳裡包辦6分。 儘管全隊9支安打，還少於紅襪的12安，但得點圈打擊能夠發揮，幫助老虎取得關鍵勝利。
