歐巴馬政府20日警告，國會若未即時提高舉債上限，政府可能在2 月7日之後的一個月內開始債務違約。但國會預算處 (CBO)的說法剛好相反，CBO表示，美國或許可以延緩到明年6月再提高舉債上限。
