烏克蘭總統亞努科維奇一日承諾，他將在權力範圍內，儘快拉近烏克蘭與歐盟的關係。亞努科維奇的談話，明顯是為平息示威怒潮。

亞努科維奇日前拒絕挽救烏克蘭與歐洲聯盟的關鍵協定後，民眾天天上街示威，且愈演愈烈。反對派甚至呼籲提早舉行選舉。

國際傳真社引述亞努科維奇發表的聲明：「在我能決定的範圍內，我會竭盡所能，在拉近烏克蘭與歐盟關係的過程中加快速度。」（路透）
