一個國際保育團體就如何保護大象，避免大象滅絕，做出重要決定。

「國際自然保育聯盟」在波札那首都「嘉柏隆里」召開會議，達成好幾項重要決議，其中包括，要求各國把獵殺大象列為重大罪行，提高對撲殺大象、走私象牙的刑罰，投入更多資金打擊象牙走私等等。

保育團體警告說，如果不及時阻止象牙交易，今後十年，兩成非洲大象將被撲殺。
