Google台灣資料中心啟用 投資額增至六億

Google台灣資料中心今天下午在彰濱舉行落成典禮，Google同時宣佈將台灣資料中心長期發展計畫的總投資金額，從3億美元倍增到6億美元；彰化縣長卓伯源表示將協助後續投資事宜，也期盼Google未來結合中科四期與彰濱自由經貿示範區，共創美好璀璨的未來。（張文祿報導）

Google全球資料中心副總裁Joe Kava致詞時，盛讚台灣是好地方，也很高興技術最先進、亞洲最大的台灣資料中心正式啟用，Google資料中心透過創新技術，比一般資料中心減少50%耗能，目前已聘用超過60名全職員工，人才招募仍在進行中。Joe Kava指出，亞洲網路用戶數約佔全球人口5成，並以驚人速度攀升中，為因應這股勢不可擋的網路使用需求，Google宣布將台灣資料中心長期發展計畫的總投資額從3億美元增加至6億美元。

Google台灣資料中心第一期佔地十五公頃，比新加坡興建中的中心，規模還要大，遊戲區、健身房、還有點心區一應俱全。

彰化縣長卓伯源表示，Google選擇彰化縣設置台灣資料中心，將全球尖端網路和環保科技帶進彰化，前後不到兩年時間，讓我們成為亞太區雲端運算中心根據地之一，並加快彰濱工業區型塑網路群聚效應的步伐。
