這一顆泛灰的湛藍色鑽石的故事要從17世紀說起，擁有者從法王路易十四到瑪麗安東尼皇后，路易王朝更賜名為「法國藍寶石」，可見尊寵地位，隨著曾配戴者接連遭逢不幸，曠世藍鑽引起詛咒之說，期間也傳失竊，再添一筆傳奇。直至1949年，由海瑞溫斯頓先生收購並捐給美國史密森尼博物館，希望之鑽終於有美麗歸宿。
