Google推出新影像與影片格式　大幅縮小檔案

使用手機或行動裝置觀看影片或照片，早已成為現代人的習慣，但常會受到傳輸速率的影響。《谷歌》從另外一個角度切入：既然不容易改變網路速度，不如提升壓縮比、改良影片與照片的壓縮方式，在使用者沒有感覺的情況下，縮小影片與照片的檔案大小，這樣要完成傳輸的時間自然也就減少。

照片方面，《谷歌》開發新的WebP檔案格式，在同樣的畫質下檔案可以縮小31%以上，影片則有VP9格式，大約是H.264的一半大小，旗下的《Youtube》即將在今年稍晚開始支援。
