美國軍方高層誓言要整頓軍隊紀律杜絕性犯罪之際，知名西點軍校卻傳出性醜聞。一名陸軍上士，同時也是教育班長，竟然涉嫌多次偷拍洗澡、更衣的女學員，案發後這名教育班長已被調職，且將面臨多項軍法指控。
據美國「赫芬頓郵報」報導，一名曾3度為伊拉克戰場服務、得過銅星等勳章的陸軍上士米契爾(Michael McClendon)，在2009年起在西點軍校擔任全連約120餘位學生的生活、紀律、福利、健康等事宜，協助學生在學業、軍事、道德上可均衡發展，如同我國的教育班長。
不過，米契爾卻在本(5)月14日遭到指控，從他到西點軍校服務開始，持續以攝錄影機在女性浴室、洗手間或校園其他地方拍攝女學員的裸照、影像，甚至將設錄影機藏匿在淋浴間或更衣室。
報導指出，案發後，米契爾已被調往美國陸軍位於紐約州德拉姆堡(Fort Drum)基地候審。美國陸軍部表示，米契爾被控4項罪名，包含猥褻、凌虐、怠忽職守、違反命令及紀律等。
據悉，這是美軍這些日子以來令人難堪的性騷擾案例之一，根據美國國防部最近的調查報告，從2011年至今年性侵與性騷擾等案件已增至2.6萬件，增幅將近4成。
米契爾案爆發的同天，美國的陸軍司令與陸軍部長等人出席國會聽證會時才誓言，努力減少軍中性犯罪事件，且聲稱絕不容忍性犯罪。美國總統歐巴馬在上星期召集軍方領導人，要求軍方全力防治性犯罪的發生，整頓軍隊紀律。未料，美國軍方如今再度傳出一系列的性醜聞案件。
