內政部公布桃園縣改制為直轄市

內政部4日發布「桃園縣改制直轄市計畫」，自即日起生效；並自中華民國103年12月25日，桃園縣改制為「桃園市」。

依桃園縣改制直轄市計畫，目前的桃園市未來將改制為區。桃園縣被稱為「國門之都」，將正式成為我國第6個直轄市，明年底前也將選出首任市長，扮演桃竹苗領頭羊角色。
