美西維州河川遭化學汙染 30萬人無水飲

美國西維吉尼亞州首府查爾斯頓水源遭到化學污染，30萬居民連續三天無淨水可飲用，未來幾天可能也無法淋浴或飲水。

一處工業化學原料儲存槽16日發生外洩，高達5,000加侖的化學原料排入艾克河，流入鄰近的水處理中心。

州長湯布林（Earl Ray Tomblin）表示，這幾天處理工作已有進展，尤其是11日，但目前無法得知何時才能解除水質安全警報。

官員指出，排入艾克河的有毒物質「4-甲基環己烷甲醇」（MCHM）來自自由工業公司（Freedom Industries）的一座破裂貯存槽，這家業者專門生產煤礦、煉鋼、水泥使用的特殊化學原料。
