潭美颱風現在是輕度颱風，不過因為他未來還會在海面上停留兩天左右，因此強度還有機會再增強，不過接下來等颱風轉為西北西走向後，太平洋高壓提供了明顯的導引氣流，行進速度就會加快了！至於未來颱風就會持續沿著高壓邊緣前進，周三、周四最接近台灣，不過他的外圍雲帶有機會在周二傍晚就開始移入北台灣，接下來隨著颱風接近，各地都會陸續出現雨勢，這樣的路徑其實跟上個颱風「蘇力」很像，都是類似西北颱的走向，加上周三適逢中元節，剛好是農曆十五大潮的時間，因此西半部地區要嚴防沿海的海水倒灌現象了。

所以隨著颱風接近，雨勢會一天天地明顯，週二上半天天氣還不錯，各地還是受到颱風外圍下沉氣流影響，天氣穩定炎熱，不過傍晚開始外圍雲系移入，中部以北開始出現雨勢，到了周三、週四更是全台有雨。
