埃及官員說，55歲的美國人亨利13日在蘇伊士運河市的獄中上吊身亡，據信是自殺。

埃及官員說，亨利今年8月因違反埃及宵禁被捕。他在北西奈的艾拉里希和阿法之間的路上被攔下來，他說他正要前往加薩走廊。

美國大使館代表上周去監獄探望亨利。在埃及當局通知亨利，他的監禁時間還要延長30天後的隔天，亨利上吊身亡。（法新社）
