根據國際科技資訊諮詢機構IDC的預估，今年全球個人電腦出貨量將比去年減少，為-10.1%，和IDC原先預期的-9.7%雖然只是略減，但創下至今為止最嚴重的衰退狀況。

在產品區隔上，商業市場需求明顯高於消費市場的需求，商業電腦在2013年的出貨量僅比去年同期下跌5%，但消費市場衰退了15%。IDC認為，因為對個人電腦的意願不高，預估在2014年的年衰退率仍達-3.8%。整體的出貨量仍達到3億台以上。
