根據一個科技網站報導，曾經在叱吒一時的微軟作業系統，在所謂的「後PC時代」到來之後，市占率大不如前，由以往的九成市占率，大跌到現在幾乎不到三成。

這個科技網站報導說，過去五年來，由於個人電腦，也就是PC，出貨量大不如前；相對地，智慧型手機與平板電腦大行其道，因此微軟的作業系統，節節敗退，反而是蘋果的iOS，以及Google開發的安卓作業系統，突飛猛進。

這個網站統計說，五年前，搭載Windows作業系統的電腦，幾乎所向披靡，市佔率高達百分之九十；然而，微軟太過自信，錯失了開發智慧型手機與平板電腦的機會，導致微軟的作業系統，市佔率與以往相比，不到三分之一。
